The government joins calls for a humanitarian “pause” in the escalating Israel-Hamas conflict.
Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden says temporary breaks in the violence would allow humanitarian aid to be provided to the Gaza Strip.
Mr Dowden is also due to chair a meeting of the government’s emergency planning committee COBRA later today, as global attention remains fixed on the crisis in Gaza.
