McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski said that CosMc's will serve the demand for an "afternoon beverage pick-me-up.".
The concept is "what would happen if a McDonald's character from the 1980s that was part alien, part surfer, part robot" opened a restaurant today, Kempczinski said.

Drinks that will be offered include "a churro frappe, a s'mores cold brew and a tumeric-spiced latte," CBS News reports.
Non-coffee beverages, "sweet and savory treats" and Egg McMuffins will also be served.
The first CosMc's location opened in Bolingbrook, Illinois, on Dec.
7.
It was so busy that one man told CBS Chicago that it took three hours for him to get a frappe.
10 more locations are slated to open in Texas next year.
The company will study business results for at least a year before deciding if it will expand further.
McDonald's, however, intends to open 10,000 more stores around the world by 2027
