The Christmas night WRTV newscast (which aired late because of a football game) was Owen's last as a full-time employee of a television station, He began working at DePauw University the following week.
He did return to Channel 6 on a fill-in basis for about 18 months after this.
He formerly worked at WISH and WPDS (now WXIN) in Indy, WANE in Fort Wayne, WLOS in Asheville, and Indy's WIRE and WIBC radio.
