Odisha is a state in eastern India that has a multi-party system of politics.
The current ruling party is the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The main opposition parties are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC).
The state has 21 seats in the Lok Sabha (the lower house of the Indian parliament) and 10 seats in the Rajya Sabha (the upper house of the parliament).
The last general election for the Lok Sabha and the state assembly was held in 2019, in which the BJD won 12 and 112 seats respectively, while the BJP won 8 and 23 seats, and the INC won 1 and 9 seats.
