The government has announced tougher sentences for domestic abuse perpetrators.
The measure builds upon action taken in the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 to clarify in law that there is no such thing as the ‘rough sex defence’.
Home Office Minister Laura Farris said: "If you kill your partner through an abusive or dangerous sexual act, you'll face tougher sentences than ever before." Ms Farris said the government wants to send a clear message to perpetrators that "if you take your partner's life, you will face a very serious penalty for doing so." Report by Kennedyl.
