Paul Romero has been an interesting character in Oregon politics over the last several years.
He ran for Governor in 2022 and for the US House in 2016 and in 2018.
In the governor’s race in 2022, Paul switched parties from the Republican Party to the Constitutional Party in a controversial move.
Donice Smith was also running for governor in the Constitutional Party and in a contentious battle over who would be the party’s candidate, the Secretary of State’s office declared Smith as the official governor candidate for the party thus ending Romero’s bid for the office.
Today, he is registered back as a Republican and he is running for Oregon’s Senate District 1 in the Republican Primary against three other candidates.
