'Martha's Rule' - giving patients and families the legal right to seek an urgent second opinion should they be worried about a condition getting worse, will be rolled out in hospitals in England from April.
It follows the death of 13-year-old Martha Mills in 2021 who died after developing sepsis while she was in hospital.
Martha's mother - who has been influential in campaigning for the law - says that the new legislation will give people "somewhere to turn" when they are concerned.
