Former President Trump is attempting to halt the start of his first criminal trial by invoking a presidential immunity defense.
Trump's lawyers filed court documents on Monday, claiming that prosecutors intend to introduce evidence that raises the concept of official acts, which is relevant to presidential immunity.
Trump argues that these charges, along with his other criminal cases, should be dismissed entirely.
The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear oral arguments on April 25th.
Trump's attorneys have requested an adjournment of the trial to await guidance from them on the appropriate application of the presidential immunity doctrine to the evidence the prosecution plans to present.
In this case, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has charged Trump with 34 counts of falsifying business records.
Trump has pleaded not guilty to these charges.
The trial is scheduled to commence on March 25th, and we will keep you updated on Fan Reviews News.
