The Princess of Wales's edited photo is a "major communicative failure from their side," an AFP photo edtior has said.
Eric Baradat, the director of photography at AFP, said they usually "trust images coming from Kensington Palace" and the edited image "makes us doubt that she is as well as they want her to look." The image, taken by the Prince of Wales, was the first of Catherine to be released since her surgery in January.
PA, Getty Images, AFP, Associated Press (AP) and Reuters removed the image over concerns it had been "manipulated".
