On March 24, the French government, in response to recent shootings in Moscow, raised its terror alert level to its highest point.
Prime Minister Gabriel Attal declared this escalation following a conference with President Emmanuel Macron and key security and defence authorities.
Attal shared on social media site X (formerly known as Twitter), that the decision to elevate the alert level was made "in light of the Islamic State's claim of responsibility for the (Moscow) attack and the threats facing our nation".
