On Saturday, the Oklahoma State Patrol announced the closure of a highway south of Sallisaw following a barge collision with a bridge over the Arkansas River.
Troopers took action around 1:25 pm upon receiving reports of the incident, redirecting traffic away from the affected area, according to state patrol spokesperson Sarah Stewart.
The bridge, spanning the Arkansas River at its entry into the Robert S.
Kerr Reservoir will stay shut until inspection can be conducted, Stewart added.
