Rishi Sunak said the conflict in Gaza "must end" as he addressed MPs in the House of Commons.
The prime minister said he will be speaking to Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to express solidarity and to discuss how we can prevent further escalation.
"Nothing that has happened over the last 48 hours affects our position on Gaza.
The whole country wants to see an end to the bloodshed and to see more humanitarian support going in," he added.
