The Book of Matthew begins with the "genealogy of Yeshua the Messiah, the son of David." What is so special about David that the Gospels link the Messiah to him?
Actually, David is a unique Mighty Man of Messiah who lived 1,000 years before Yeshua Messiah's birth.
In a prophetic Messianic Psalm David claimed the Messiah as his Lord.
David wrote: "A Psalm by David.
YHWH says to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool for your feet.” YHWH will send forth the rod of your strength out of Tsiyon.
Rule in the midst of your enemies." David can therefore be seen as a disciple of the pre-existant Messiah, who thus was enrolled in His "school." As such, David was both a learner and a teacher of other men, who came to be David's Mighty Men.
