Perceptions act like a log of everything that happens to us.
It is a little like a cine film, but with the addition of all our sensations - smell, taste, sights, sounds, touch and emotions.
People who have near death experiences sometimes go through this log, and it is then called a "past life review".
They feel as though they have lived their current life again.
But there are some people - principally young children - who seem to be able to relive a life that wasn't theirs.
Children are able to have these experiences up until the age of four or five.
The past lives they remember are often those where the end of life has been unexpected, possibly violent and accompanied by trauma.
If a small child has nightmares and terror from a ‘past life’ there is every reason to find ways of helping them resolve it.
But deliberate attempts to find out past lives, from curiosity alone, when we are older may not be yielding the results we think.
The video will explain why .
