"Dead Internet & Happiness Machines" 6/5/24

I read an article about how 40% of the Internet from 2013 is gone, and yet another video about strange ways that social media sites show you content based on how you are being profiled on account of your sex and other factors.

It made me pull up some old materials on how the internet, and the culture at-large, may be stuck in a feedback loop, in which people are losing their shirts and their minds.

And in our recent reading during book club, Ray Bradbury's concept of how a "Happiness Machine" would work not only gives us insight into our current digital/cultural predicament, but it also gives us a reminder of the simple solution.
