After a day of "rest" yesterday, meaning no run, today is a Base Run day.
What is a base run?
It is a medium to long distance run at an easy(er) pace.
The purpose and benefit of a base run is to increase edurance and aerobic ability.
It also increases 'time on feet' and distance without adding strain or fatigue.
It is a run done now that benefits you later...increasing aerobic ability and endurance for a planned race in the future.
