Country folk experienced some unique challenges during these hard times including falling crop prices, strikes and protests that often turned violent.

In addition, the decade long drought, dubbed the Dust Bowl, destroyed farms, caused millions of dollars in damage and forced thousands to flee their homes in search of food, shelter and jobs.
