Explosive devices were discovered inside the car of Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old gunman who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump during a Saturday rally in Pennsylvania, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.
The car was found not far from the rally site in Butler, PA, prompting a large-scale investigation.
Authorities responded to multiple reports of suspicious packages in the area where Crooks had been positioned, leading to the dispatch of bomb technicians to the scene.
Officials worked late into the night to secure the area before moving on to search Crooks’ family home, sources close to the investigation revealed.
