The 60-year-old VP pick previously served 12 years in Congress, representing Minnesota's 1st congressional district from 2007 to 2019.
Aside from his career in politics, Walz served 24 years in the Army National Guard after enlisting at 17, worked as a high school social studies teacher, and coached football.
