Clashes broke out in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal on Sunday after a survey team arrived at the Shahi Jama Masjid to conduct an inspection of the mosque.
According to ANI, an incident of stone pelting occurred, prompting police to use tear gas to control the situation.
Images shared on social media also showed cops pleading with locals to stop throwing stones at the survey team.
