Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has stated that Iran is prepared to deploy troops to Syria if the Syrian government formally requests assistance in combating a resurgence of terrorism.
In an interview with New Arab, Araghchi emphasized the growing security threat posed by terrorist groups in northwestern Syria, which he warned could impact neighboring countries, such as Turkey and Iraq, more severely than Iran.
He also expressed concerns about the possible collapse of the Astana process, a diplomatic initiative aimed at resolving the Syrian conflict, which involves Russia, Turkey, and Iran.
Araghchi criticized Turkey for failing to uphold its commitment to prevent militancy in Syria, given its historical support for certain opposition groups.
