A devastating plane crash has occurred near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan, where a passenger aircraft carrying 105 passengers and five crew members went down in flames.
The plane, operated by Azerbaijan Airlines, was en route from Baku to Grozny in Russia’s Chechnya but was rerouted due to heavy fog in Grozny.
Emergency services arrived swiftly, with 52 rescuers and 11 pieces of equipment deployed to the site.
Rescue teams battled a raging fire upon arrival as reports emerged of potential survivors among the wreckage.
However, many are feared dead as details about casualties remain unclear.
