Thousands of people braved the cold weather in London to help mark the New Year.
The chimes of Big Ben and a spectacular fireworks display at the London Eye went ahead, despite concerns about adverse weather conditions – which had led authorities to cancel the traditional Hogmanay celebration in Edinburgh.
