The Chery Tiggo 4 Pro has achieved a five-star ANCAP safety rating.
This rating is based on a combination of local collision avoidance testing and physical crash test results from its closely-related partner model, the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro tested and rated by ANCAP in late 2023.
Across the four key areas of safety assessment, the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro achieved the following scores: Adult Occupant Protection – 88% Child Occupant Protection – 87% Vulnerable Road User Protection – 79% Safety Assist – 85% Aligning with the specification of the closely-related Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, the Tiggo 4 Pro comes with dual frontal airbags, side chest-protecting airbags, and side head-protecting airbags.
It also features a centre airbag, designed to enhance protection for front-seat occupants in side-impact collisions.
Structurally, the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro provides equivalent levels of occupant protection performance to its partner model, the Tiggo 7 Pro.
The Tiggo 4 Pro, however, is fitted with a different advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) and the full suite of collision avoidance performance testing was conducted on the Tiggo 4 Pro.
Testing of the AEB Car-to-Car system demonstrated Good performance, with collisions avoided or mitigated in all test scenarios, including in many of the AEB Junction and AEB Crossing scenarios.
The vehicle’s lane support system also scored highly and was awarded full points.
Performance was strong across many of the critical emergency lane keeping test scenarios.
Existing owners and prospective buyers of the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro are advised that an active vehicle safety-related recall campaign is in place which may affect some Chery Tiggo 4 Pro vehicles.
Due to a software issue, Chery Tiggo 4 Pro vehicles built prior to 1 November 2024 may not currently comply with the Australian Government’s regulatory AEB requirements (Australian Design Rule 98/01 – Advanced Emergency Braking for Passenger Vehicles and Light Goods Vehicles).
Affected vehicles may not have the Autonomous Emergency Brake (AEB) sound alarm activated.
Owners of affected vehicles should contact their nearest Chery dealership to have their AEB software updated, free of charge.
