US President Donald Trump has refused to guarantee American military support for British troops if the UK deploys forces to Ukraine as part of a potential peace deal with Russia.
During his White House meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump said the British military is strong enough to handle itself.
This comes after French President Emmanuel Macron also failed to secure US security guarantees for Ukraine.
Russia has warned that foreign peacekeepers without a UN mandate would be considered legitimate targets, further escalating tensions in the ongoing conflict.
