Covered in mud, Brazilians enjoy traditional carnival in Paraty

Covered in mud, people enjoy a traditional carnival celebration in the historic city of Paraty, Rio de Janeiro.

Originating in 1986 with teenagers playing in the mud, this vibrant tradition has evolved into a celebration where participants from different parts of the country express joy and freedom.

"I feel like a child again," says 26-year-old music teacher Gabriela Nunes.

"It's very liberating, enjoyable, and relaxing," she adds.
