The Rolling Stones guitarist was presented with the first-ever Connecticut Governor's Award for Excellence by Governor Ned Lamont on Wednesday in Westport.
Richards has been a resident of Connecticut for four decades, keeping a home in the state since 1985.
According to Connecticut's official state website, the award celebrates 'Connecticut residents who epitomize the state's core values of creativity, resourcefulness, passion, dynamism, and generosity' all of which Richards himself embodies.
Along with the award, Richards will also receive the 'key to the state.'
