China congratulates Mark Carney on becoming the leader of Canada's Liberal Party, which sets him up to succeed Justin Trudeau as the country's prime minister.
"We hope that the Canadian side can maintain an objective and rational understanding of China," says foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning.
