A U.S. federal judge has ordered the White House to reinstate Associated Press access to presidential events.
The AP was removed from the press pool after refusing to adopt President Trump’s renaming of the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America.” The court ruled the exclusion violated First Amendment protections.
While the AP isn’t guaranteed first-in-line status, the judge said it must not be treated unfairly.
The decision affirms media rights amid accusations of press suppression by the Trump administration, which had called the AP “radical” for not complying.
