An island-wide blackout plunged Puerto Rico into darkness on April 16, just as its largely Catholic population prepared for the sacred Easter weekend.
All 1.4 million customers across the island lost power, with Luma Energy confirming, “The entire island is without generation.” Hotels were near capacity, packed with tourists, while residents struggled—some 78,000 people also lost access to water.
