Pro-Khalistan New Democratic Party (NDP) leader Jagmeet Singh suffered a major political blow as he lost his seat in Burnaby Central to Liberal candidate Wade Chang in the 2025 Canada federal elections.
With just 27% of the vote, Singh was decisively defeated, prompting his resignation as party leader.
The NDP also faces the loss of its national status, winning fewer than the 12 seats required.
Meanwhile, Mark Carney’s Liberal Party is poised to form the next government, securing a fourth consecutive victory but falling short of a majority.
Carney's rise marks a new era in Canadian politics.
