Pune GBS cluster still a mystery as NIV finds C. jenuni bacteria in stool but not in water

Water testing for Campylobacter jejuni, linked to Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) cases in Pune, found no bacteria in the water samples. The National Institute of Virology is conducting genetic analysis to determine if a virulent strain caused the increase in GBS. Discovering genetic changes in the bacterium could explain the severe outbreak in the city.
