Increased Search Powers Extended And Widened Following Machete Attack

Increased stop and search powers that have been put in place temporarily in part of Leeds to prevent serious violence and keep communities safe following an incident last night are being extended and widened. 

Senior officers at Leeds District authorised the use of Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 to detect and deter the carrying of offensive weapons after two men were attacked with a machete and seriously injured in Reginal Row, Chapeltown, at about 7pm yesterday.
