Morning - police officers in one bay area community are coming under fire, after the shooting death of a man at the scene of a store looting.

It happened tuesday morning in vallejo, outside a walgreens.

Police say officers responded to numerous calls of people looting.

During one call - officers say they spotted a man running near the scene; knelt, and made moves towards his waist.

Police say they thought the man had a gun - one officer fired shots.

Killing 22-year- old sean monterrosa from san francisco.

Turns out, that man did*no* have a gun - but a hammer tucked in his sweatshirt.

All of this information was released during a wednesday news conference - police had to abruptly cut it short due to an angry crowd.
