Last year, voters in the winston dillard school district passed a 16 million dollar bond to rebuild the high school.

But& that meant the mural would be torn down.

So, van dermark is rounding up alumni, community members and students& to make sure the mural stays.

Including his son, lucas&who is also the current student body president.

He said he like it in front of these two oak trees in front of the school... so students, staff and the community can admire it as they pass by.

In order to move the mural& they need 20 thousand dollars by next summer.

They have partnered with the winston area community partnership& a non profit that helps fundraise for projects like this.

They are helping with community outreach.?

I excited in not only the fact that it has the potential to be saved, but so many people have offered support?

But david has full confidence they will see the mural live on for generations to come.
