As the fire continues to burn on badger mountain in yreka, evacuation orders remain in place for parts residents in the hawkinsville humbug area.

In response to the evacuation orders, the american red cross has set up a shelter at the jackson street elementary school in yreka cold water and snacks are available as well as a place to sleep.

But the pandemic has added some challenges as they try to provide for the residents of northern california.

Evacuated people areiven a temperature check when they arrive to the shelter and asked a series of questions to see if they have any symptoms of cod 19.

Because of the pandemic, the amount of space available to be used is cut by about a third, according to the red cross workers here in yreka.

If someone shows symptoms of the coronavirus, medical personnel is called in to conduct further evaluations.

This is to give people enough space to keep their distances from other households.
