This heart-pumping footage shows the moment two paragliders are involved in a mid-air collision and managed to live to fly another day.

Luke de Weert, 20 ,and Lukas Neu, 24, were enjoying a freestyle paragliding session in the skies over Organya, Spain, when the nail-biting incident occurred.

The pair were attempting to perform a trick known as the 'synchronised helicopter', when Luke unexpectedly lost altitude and became tangled in Lukas' lines causing the pair to momentarily spiral into a free fall.

The video shows the insanely close call, but due to the experience and quick thinking of both pilots, the ordeal was over in seconds and the pair returned to the ground with pumped full of adrenaline and a story to share.

Web developer Luke, from Alkmaar, Netherlands, said: "Organya is the best place to learn freestyle paragliding.

"Because of the local climate, we can take-off and thermal up and make a lot of hours in the air to train our tricks.

"I saw quite quickly that Lukas was going to hit my glider, so I started to stop the helicopter but I hit Lukas anyways.

"Because he was in front of the glider I was going straight to backfly (a way for a paraglider to fly to the back) and in result it worked out really well!" Carpenter Lukas, from Schwarzenberg, Austria, added: "I saw the canopy coming so I stopped the helicopter.

"When I hit the glider/lines I tried to remove them from my legs.

Once this worked I spun my glider 180 degrees and flew away from Luke."
