Oktibbeha County residents abide by the county-wide curfew set on Monday.

Is in the second week of a county wide curfew that supervisors ordered after numerous reports of large gatherings.

Wtva's rhea thornton is in starkville where she spoke with the oktibbeha sheriff about the impact the curfew is having.

I'm in starkville outside of the sheriff's department where sheriff steve gladney says people responded well to the early turn-in time.

"people respected the curfew and we didn't have any problems."

Last week, the board of supervisors placed a curfew on oktibbeha county after receiving numerous noise complaints and problematic large gatherings.

However, oktibbeha county sheriff steve gladney says the phone has been a little quieter since the curfew.

Steve gladney - oktibbeha county sheriff: "on thursday, friday, saturday, and sunday night, we had over 200 calls for service.

On the same period on the weekend when they put the curfew back into place, it dropped to 105."

Gladney says the curfew lasts from 12 pm to 4 am and people are listening to the restrictions.

He says his men appreciate their cooperation and a return to normal patrols.

Steve gladney: "when we were dealing with this before curfew, it was taking all my guys in one part of the county and we had no body in other parts of the county.

So at least now you know we can do what we're supposed to do, patrol the county, protect the county."

Gladney says the curfew is in effect until october 5th.

The board of supervisors will discuss if it should be continued at their first meeting in october.
