Coronavirus case counts are surging in nearly half of states across america..

At least 10 states are showing a rise in the percentage of people getting positive coronavirus test results..

And stimulus relief for americans struggling during the pandemic is back on the table..

Can lawmakers and the white house come to an agreement?

Now, at least seven states are seeing all-time record highs in weekly averages for new cases..

Hospitalizations have hit a record- high in missouri..

Tennessee is extending a state of emergency through october..

And florida reporting its highest number of cases in ten days..

Tampa's international airport is now the first in the couuntry to offer two types of tests to all passengers..

Recovering over the summer, she noticed her hair was falling out in clumps.

In the midst of the pandemic, covid is the major trigger.

People are just seeing hair, like on their combs, on their pillows on their clothes, on the floor.

The hair is just everywhere doctor khetarpal says the shedding should end within six months - and the hair will start to re-grow.

She suggests managing stress through yoga and meditation to help speed the process... or using over the counter minoxidil.

Gaffney also takes vitamin supplements and uses platelet rich plasma injections to stimulate hair follicles.

So mississippi university for women senior sarah williams and the school's chapter of the national student speech language hearing association decided to help give those patients a voice.

"i can't eve imagine not being able to have family there and having to struggle to communicate with the healthcare providers that you are able to be in contact with."

Sarah's aunt, a nurse a a southaven hospital, told her about the need for communication boards for covid- 19 patients at local hospitals.

"they have t clean them between each patient and they don't have enough quantiy to mach the number of patients that they are needing to serve at this time."

So sarah and her classmates made more.

One side has symbols for specific requests while the other has a keypad to create specific messages.

Janette hreish , an instructor and clynical educator with the w's department of speech language pathology, designed to board to be versitile yet simple and not emotionally taxing for the patients.

"with one gestur or two gestures be able to build a message and communicate effectively and i wanted to include controls for their environment."

There are also symbols for patients to express emotions, like fear, worry, or love.

"if i'm unable t get my needs met, i'm unable to get my emotional needs met, it might affect their willingness to keep fighting the disease as well."

The school created 200 of these boards for the students to pass out to baptist memorial hospital, oktibbeha county hospital and others acorss the golden triangle...to make sure their coronavirus patients do not feel alone?

Teachers, parents and the students themselves are trying to catch up with academics.

And as brooke katz reports, many are dealing with the emotional aftermath of isolation.

"now that we'r back in school, what we're seeing is a lot of our students are having emotional issues of what is occurred over the past couple of months."

Renee kotsopoulos is the director of health services for gisd...with so many parents having the same concerns- they wanted to offer one spot for answers.

"there were a lo of parents there that were asking a lot of good questions about their kids and about themselves too."

Dr. robert darzynkiewicz is the chief medical officer at hazel health-- a telemedicine company that partners with gisd-- and schools across the country.

He told us many of the questions revolved around helping kids cope.

"understandin resilience, understanding that it's a skill, that routine, care, self-care, obviously playing games, having safe time to learn, really just building a structure that children already thrive in and knowing that it's just different this time."

Kotsopoulos says she hopes families will keep taking advantage of the service.

"this is jus another way to grab the attention of parents and families so that way they'll access the medical care that they need."
