Student tests positive for coronavirus at Okolona High School

That student , four teachers, and three students are under quarantine for two weeks.

Nine news has learned that one student at okolona high school has tested positive for the coronavirus.

Wayne hereford talked to the superintendent this afternoon about what measures the district is taking to prevent the about what measures the district is taking to prevent the spread.

I spoke with superintendent chad spence inside the okolona central office here in okolona .

He told me once they found out the student was positive for coronavirus , the school acted quickly."

Spence would not go on camera but told me in his office that one student at the high school has the coronavirus.

He says someone notified the school district about the case wednesday night.

Spence says the school's protocol is to trace the people that the student came in contact with throughout the day.

He says the student left the building wednesday morning about 10:00.

The superintendent says that after an investigation, the district found that four staff members and three students came in contact with the infected student and are now under quarantine for fourteen days.

He says they were all in a classroom called foundations of biology.

He says that the school is cleaned after each class period .

He also says the infected student did not ride a bus but went home in a car.

He says the parents have been informed.
