The Locker Room: High School Football Week Seven

Justin Prince and Petar Hood showed you highlights from 16 games in The Locker Room on Friday, including Homestead's 70-41 win over rival Carroll.

Good evening to you..welcome inside the locker room..joined as always by my partner petar hood, my name is justin prince..pete, week seven of the high school football season, also known as rivalry week in the summit athletic conference...bragging rights on the line all across the fort tonight, but we begin with the game that could very well end up deciding who gets the victory bell...yeah, coming into the night, we had a three-way tie atop the s-a-c standings... carroll, homestead, and bishop dwenger all with one loss...and basically it boils down to this..if the spartans win out, they're your back-to-back champions..if they don't, dwenger's in the driver's seat, but carroll is still very much in contention... with that, our game of the week takes us down to walters stadium on the southwest side... ???6-a #11 homestead playing host to ninth ranked carroll.... the spartans have won the last six meetings between these two rivals..

???and this one was an instant classic, especially if you like offense..

But it was all about the defense early... first drive of the game... jeff becker's pass is picked off by isaac barkes... homestead takes over..???but on the ensuing possession... the chargers' d answers with a big play of their own... evan ormsby looking downfield for gage sparrow..

But he finds zavier saylor instead... nice return sets up good field position for carroll..???and it leads to this... becker... keeps it himself from one yard out... chargers are on the board first... it's 7-0 neon nation..???and let the scroing onslaught begin... next touch for sparty... ormsby... play action... over the top to nate anderson for the score... homestead ties the game at seven..???and these two teams were just getting started... spartans win a shootout, 70-41 your final... ???so vinny fiacable and his bishop dwenger saints trying to keep pace with homestead atop the s-a-c... saints taking on luers tonight in the annual battle of the bishops..

???tight game when we pick this one up late first half... knights down eight, but trying to put a drive together... little screen play results in first down yardage for eli gernhardt..???moments later, they go with the screen again, and this time dwenger is all over it... mitchell vogleweed there to make the stop... no gain on third down for the knights, so they're forced to punt..???saints trying to extend their lead before the half... check out the finish on this run by k-j tippmann... that'll get the sideline excited..

???but the golden domers unable to do anything with it... moments later, it's luers' corner sir hale delivering a big blow for the knights...???dwenger goes into the locker room with just an eight point lead, but they pull away in the second half... 43-6 your final... ???from one of the summit city's oldest rivalries to another..

The totem pole game... north side looking to make it three wins in a row over south side..???legends led by three touchdowns at the break... and they kept their foot on the gas coming out of the locker room... first drive of the second half... duce taylor steps up in the pocket and fires a dart to jordan turner... put six more on the board for north..???ensuing possesion for the archers... green and white showing some fight... quincy english going up top for javonte malone... malone makes the grab and he is gone... seventy-plus yards on the score... deficit down to 22..???but the legends offense just keeps on comin'.... taylor to turner... run it back one more time... ???north side keeps the totem pole... they roll to the 49-6 win... alright... let's head to zollner stadium... rivalry week continues with wayne visiting concordia...late second quarter... generals with an 8-7 lead... cadets driving... brandon davis hits kam johnson in the flat... johnson gets free but tripped up inside the five...a few plays later... no sweat... davis connects with scottie vanlandingham at the goal line for the score... cadets take a 13-8 lead after the failed two point conversion...wayne trying to get something back before the end of the half... chris thomas gets bottled up in the backfield... but able to bounce outside...he gets down inside concordia territory... and then... sam hudson with the stick.... pops the ball free... james rusher recovers...cadets take a 13-8 lead in to the locker room... they hang on for the 27-16 win... final stop in the s-a-c... it's the battle for spuller stadium... snider squaring off with northrop...all panthers when we pick this one up in the third..

Bruins driving... but keone bates gets his pass tipped and then picked by lamarion bailey... he takes off down the sideline... but is drug down deep inside bruin territory...but a few plays later... snider finishes the job... that's luke haupert hooking up with tyler dent for the score... snider takes a 37-0 lead...bruins trying to answer on the next drive... bates drops back and finds jayden billingsley for the big gain down inside the 25...but they were just never able to get anything going... bruins made four trips in to snider territory....and they made four turnovers in that time... snider cruises to the 44-0 dub... let's roll on to the ne8 now... 4a number eight leo hosting huntington north tonight...vikings moving the ball on their first drive... reid johnson finds zach hubartt on the slant for some first down yardage...but they wouldn't move the ball much more tonight... the leo defense is tough... rylan crawford the big stick on johnson... forces the viking punt...and then... the leo offense went to work... max loeffler the handoff... gets outside... drug down inside the five yard line...a few plays later... jackson barbour keeps it himself... the lions go up 7 in the second...they outgain huntington 337-103... leo wins 21-0... they're still undefeated in ne8 play... ???meanwhile, the three-time time defending ne-8 champs east noble trying to snap a three-game losing skid tonight, hosting 4-a #10 and unbeaten columbia city..???and it was the eagles striking first in this one... first quarter... greg bolt... nothing there, so he keeps it himself... breaking tackles on his way to the endzone..

It's 7-0 columbia city...???east noble trying to answer here, but cole schupback has his pass intercepted by ryan elsten off the tipped ball... that sets up a field goal... c-city jumps out to a 10-0 lead..???but the knights would come to life after that... later in the first half... justin marcellus makes his way into the endzone... east noble's on the board..???and then they take the lead on another marcellus touchown run in the second quarter... ???knights score 27 unanswered on their way to a 27-10 win... to the courtyard... norwell taking on dekalb.we'll pick this up middle of the first quarter.norwell up by two touchdowns... and looking to build on that.you saw the big pickup there...then eli riley off the bootleg... extending the play and waiting for a receiver...throws it up and gets a dekalb tip but somehow finds a dekalb receiver.luke grant grabs it and norwell up 21 to zip.dekalb trying to get something going...on fourth down corey price takes it over center... looks left for a receiver and finds his man.

Thats a first down... but norwell dominated this game.

Dekalb trying to make something happen on fourth down but the pass is swatted out of the air.norwell wins this one.fifty to zero final stop in the ne8 comes at young stadium... new haven taking on bellmont... dogs got going early and often.... jarrelll jackson takes the handoff... he plunges his way in from a couple yards out... new haven up six...later in the first..

Still a six nothing game... jakar williams rolling right... finds jalan carpenter in the endzone for another score...make it a 14-0 bulldog lead... but they weren't done... braves punting... d'andre wright breaks through... blocks the punt... and takes it to the crib...make it 20-0 new haven.... dogs roll to the 43-6 win... to the acac we go... 1a number one south adams paying jay county a visit...didn't take the starfires long to get charged up in this one... second play from scrimmage... james arnold looking drew stutzman's way and finding him... that's a 58 yard pitch and catch for the score... stars up seven...just about three minutes later... arnold looking stutzman's way again... this time stutzman does the dirty work... turns on the jets and finds paydirt again... make it a 14-0 game on the 37 yard score...but wait... there's more... the stars special teams coming to play as well... 5 minutes to go in the first... trey schoch fields the punt.... and good luck catching this kid....he takes the punt return 72 yards to the residence... stars take a very early 21-0 lead...they roll to the 55-0 win.... ???down to adams central... jets taking on the twin lakes indians.???we're in middle of the third quarter.

Jets cough up the ball in their own end...and indians looking to capitalize..

Lewis dellinger finds blayze woods..

Able to hug the sideline for a first down.???later in the drive..

Indians on the goal line..

Dellinger finds noah johnston in the back of the endzone..

Makes it a 27 to 16 game.

???adams central with the ball and trying to make some things happen..

First its ryan black to joshua mosser for the first down.???then a couple plays later... its black who cuts it up to the right side .... able to dance in between defenders for a big gain...???adams central hangs on to win... final - 47 to 29.

Down to park field we go... heritage paying bluffton a visit tonight...first quarter... no score yet in this one... bluffton knocking on the door... hayden nern decides to keep this one himself... and it works out pretty good... finds paydirt for six... tigers up seven... second quarter.... still a seven oh ball game... heritage would respond... that's kiel eldredge going up and getting this one... there's a reason schools like purdue and arizona state want him... we're square at seven....but bluffton quick to answer back... nern... forced from the pocket on the dropback... but he scrambles... and i don't know if this is good running or bad tackling... either way it's a bluffton touchdown... nern goes 61 yards....tigers retake the lead... they cruise to the 49-21 win.... ???in wabash county tonight southwood hosting peru,..

First place in the three rivers conference on the line..

???pick this one up in the third quarter... southwood up 12-10, but not any longer, the tigers get the first points of the half on this pass from levi strong to mathew strong to go up 17-12,..???but southwood turned it on from there.

The ensuing drive..

Alex farr finds receiver logan barley streaking across the middle.

He goes in untouched to add 6.

They tack on a two point conversion to go up 20-17..???a little bit later on, knights have peru pinned at their own three yard line and mo lloyd comes up with a big play here for a safety, putting the knights up by five, ???they get the ball back and in three plays do this, farr finds cole winer downfield and he able to get into the endzone for another td for the knights.

Southwood pulls away in the second half..

They go on to win 36 - 17 just on the other side of the county, northfield norseman hosting the rochester zebras and the norse were all over them from the jump2nd play of the game, nice play design here.

Qb jake halderman hands it off to running back jacob snyder, who has running back alex haupert as an option, he pitches to haupert who runs it in for the first points of the game.

Norseman go up 7-0a little bit later on, showing they can do it on defense toobig third down stop here for the norseman as line backer jarrett shafer blows up the running back in the backfield for a loss.norseman would get the what ack and here they did.halderman finds clayton tomlinson on the sideline, he gives his defender a shake to add a few more yards.

The next play, halderman calls his own number and punches it in.norseman top the zebras tonight 62 - 0 your final tippy valley 20, maconaquah 17 wabash 48, north miami 20 whitko 20, manchester 14 back in south bend... clay hosting angola.

The visiting hornets waste no time taking control.

1st play from scrimmage... tyler call gets the call...and goes 78 yards!

Hornets up 7-0 just like that.--------------------- still 1st q: angola up 14-0 now.

Tucker hasselman on the handoff...and he's gonna finish off the drive.

His 2nd td of the game makes it 14-0.

Angola wins big 49-0 concord was supposed to play plymouth tonight... but the rockie program has been sideleind for 2 weeks, due to a positive coronavirus test.

They found a last minute opponent in class 2a no.

6 eastside--------chargers have a 14-0 lead..chance to pad that advantage..matt firestine running hard..running right through tacklers...helps eastside get into field goal range---------26 yard fg attempt from dylan bredemeyer and that sails wide left!which keeps the door open for the minutemen----------and they would find the end zone..

Hunter dutton throws out to jack d'arcy and he has a lot of daylight..thats a touchdown..this would go to ot, but its concord scoring 21 unanswered to win it 21-14.
