Aberdeen School District Superintendent Jeff Clay said the Aberdeen High School District will quarantine for two weeks after someone in the program tested positive for the coronavirus.

Football team will have to cancel its next two games.

That's because players are under quarantine after one person tested positive for coronavirus.

W-t-v-a's bronson woodruff is joining us now live from aberdeen after he spoke with the superintendent.

Here at aberdeen high school, a spokesperson for the school sent a message to parents.

It said several students in aberdeen high school tested positive for the virus.

I spoke with superintendent jeff clay and he said they are doing what they need to do to keep students safe.

Superintendent jeff clay of aberdeen school district confirmed the district has one positive coronavirs case in the middle school and two in the high school.

He said one person in the high school's football program tested positive.

He explained the school district has been active with routine temperature checks, asking students questions, and other routine safety procedures.

He said procedures can be challenging to follow at times, but that the district is doing a good job.

"we're dealing with 5-year-olds to 18- year-olds, so sometimes it's hard to, you know, make sure 100 percent of the time, but we're doing a pretty good job at making sure that we're socially- distanced."

Signs like this one at the school's entrances make that quite clear.

Track monday is the school's last day of fall break, which lasts four days this year.

As far as the football will go, clay said the school won't be able to play its two upcoming games.

"if something happens and we're in the playoffs, we'll come out of quarantine to prepare for the first week of the playoffs if we're in there."

Going forward, clay said administrators will stick to its current safety procedures.

"we just need to continue on the path that we've been on since we started school on august 24th."

He added he appreciates parents' support.

"we feel like we're doing what we need to do to ensure the safety of our faculty and staff, and most importantly, our students and community."

Clay said fall break fell at a good time this year, and he is looking forward to starting school again tomorrow..
