We are learning that weddings - bars - and long term care facilities are to blame for the recent spread of covid-19 - because of the recent spike county health leaders are capping large gathering at 125 people - the administrative decision to cap - events at 125 people - does not impact the mayors executive order - according to county health leaders - there were 741 new cases of covid-19 in the last week in vanderburgh county - those numbers concerning to health officials - we are learning that a wedding on october 17th - had 12 positive cases - re-infecting 15 people - contact tracing shows that nearly 1000 people could have been exposed to the virus- health officials say 35 to 40 percent of people those exposed could not be contacted - or didnt listen to health department recommendatio ns.
"theres about 35-40 percent ..... complete information coming from the contact trcing right now" the vanderburgh county health department says other gatherings at river-bend bar on franklin street - frankin lanes bowling ally - the health department says there are 3 outbreaks in longterm care facilities right now - the national guard has been deployed to the area - starting monday - members of the guard will be inside those health care facilities at the center of the outbreak- the national guard will be there to assist with testing - ordering supplies and inventory - according to dr. christina box- indiana's top health official there could be a vaccine in the hoosier state by the end of november - reporting live in downtown evansville, tyler druin 44news.
