Nettleton excited for future of downtown area
Pretty excited about that."
Nettelton city clerk dana burcham is also the director of the city's main street association.
She says the city recieved an 80000 dollar grant from mississippi main street to give the downtown area a makeover.
"they came back and did a presentation on what the community was really needing."
According to burcham one of those changes is a youth center and she says the community is on board.
"the community input and effort is what's really going to make a difference and i think we've got that."
Main street president kevin killough added the board's renovation plans for the downtown area iwill spark the demand for new businesses.
"we've got some new people who have bought property here that are looking to open their new business up here."
Burcham said with the changes... the community will have more opportunity to hold public events and celebrations.
"christmas events, open houses, redoing some of the buildings themselves, the landscaping."
Killough is asking the community to be patient with the process.
"it's going to take some time to get that accomplished but eventually it's going to be a gorgeous downtown."
That was wtva's erin wilson reporting.
Burcham added that any community members that want to be apart of the changes or give input can attend the main street board meets at city hall.
It will be every second monday of the month at 6pm.
