Lyssa High talks with Goodwill about their costume contest and Art contest
C1 3 here on new circle road in lexington and i'm herewith ben hayden, he is the community engagement coordinator.
Ben, thank you so much for having us today.
Ben: always a pleasure to see you, lyssa.
Lyssa-host: well, we've been shopping, looking at halloween costumes.
You guys have a big halloween reveal right now, too.
Ben: we do.
So we've got all of our halloween decorations and fall decorations out right now, for people to come and shop all across our 66 stores across kentucky right now.
Lyssa-host: nice, nice.
And you also have a really cool costume contest too.
Let's talk about this.
Ben: so anybody that wants to enter our costume contest, not only with pre- bought costumes, but their creative costumes, they find off of our clothes that they buy goodwill, they can go online to goodwillky.org/hal loween.
They can enter their photos of their halloween costume, we'll put them all up on our facebook page and then vote on them and then you can win a hundred dollars gift certificate to a goodwill store.
Lyssa-host: i love it.
I love it.
Ben: it's awesome.
Lyssa-host: and real quickly too, why is it so important for folks to shop here at goodwill?
Ben: it's so important.
So all of our proceeds go into supporting our mission, which is to help people with disabilities and other disadvantages achieve and maintain employment.
So all of our money goes back to support our employment programs, to help people get a job and keep a job.
Lyssa-host: absolutely, it's fantastic.now let's also talk about, you guys have a very special request right now for artists out there.
Let's talk about this.
Ben: so we're putting a big mural on the side of one of our downtown buildings in louisville, right now, it's 60 foot wide by 17 feet tall.
So we're calling all artists across the state, not just in louisville, in lexington, everywhere.
If you're an artist out there that can do a mural, get on our website, goodwillky.org, reach out to me.
We want to have you submit your proposals.
We're going to pay that artist to do the mural.
And we just want that mural to capture our mission of goodwill.
Lyssa-host: that is fantastic, i love it.well, good luck with that too.
And when does that expire?
Ben: so you've got until the end of this month.
Lyssa-host: okay.
All right.
Good to know.
Well ben, thank you so much for having us again.
We appreciate it.
Ben: thank you so much, always good to see you.
