A Gold Hill family is seeking answers on contact tracing after they say their 90-year-old stepfather-in-law tested positive for COVID-19 following treatment at Avamere at Three Fountains.

The situation comes after a recent outbreak at the facility.

Brian, the family says it's now not only worried about its step-father-in-law's health, but also its own.

Gold hill resident joel clark says his step-father-in-law melvin's covid-19 status puts clark and his wife at risk.

Clark says he went to get tested for covid-19 this morning, and says he is considered a presumptive case.

Clark says he thinks this may have come from avamere staff members who tested positive, but he's unsure at this point.

"there's a few things that i'm disappointed with.

One is that they didn't know his covid status when they released him from avamere.

And the other is that the contact tracing doesn't appear to be happening fast enough to really help, uh, manage the spread of the virus."

Clark says he reached out to jackson county public health last friday for information on contact tracing.

He says he still hasn't heard back from them yet.

Jackson county started their investigation for this outbreak on november third, and we'll keep you updated about what we find out next.

Right now -- avamere lists 56 active cases at the three fountains location among residents.

There have been 68 positive cases among residents.

And avamere is reporting two deaths of residents.
