New information tonight -- the c-e-o of pfizer says the company has enough data about its coronavirus vaccine... now it's preparing to file for emergency authorization.
Both pfizer and moderna say their vaccine is more than 90- percent effective... that's according to recent trials.
Doctor karen landers with the alabama department of public health says while it's okay to be hopeful -- it will be months before widespread vaccinations are available.
She added the vaccine won't work to stop the spread unless enough people get it.
"the percentage of the population that needs to be immune is not really clear at the moment, although some persons have mentioned in the range of 60 to 70 percent of people would need to be immune in order for the virus to not be circulated widely.'
Landers says the state is preparing for the first stage of it's vaccination distribution plan.
