COVID-19 and sports streaming
Both indiana and illinois..
Are cracking down "on the upcoming winter sports season".
"some schools" are allowing "minimal fans", some are only allowing parents, and some are *not* having fans at all!
Here in the wabash valley though... you still have an option to watch your athlete's games "from the comfort of your own home".
News 10's "dominic miranda" spoke with the owner "of the sports network today".
"he explains"..
How they've brought the game to you at home..
Over the course of the pandemic.
//////// [take pkg incue: "with covid... outcue: ...news 10."
Duration:1:34] with covid-19 surging across the wabash valley and the state of indiana... fan restrictions for winter sporting events are being increased.... with some schools not allowing fans at all.
I spoke with the owner of indiana sports network in brazil.
He spoke about how their job became even more important when covid-19 came into the picture.
Tony harper owns the brazil based indiana sports network.
They are a t-v broadcasting service that broadcasts high school and college sporting events all across the wabash valley and the state of indiana.
The sports network began 6 years ago.... and has gained serious traction ever since.
In fact.... the terre haute north, terre haute south football game this year garnered upwards of 23 thousand unique viewers.
Harper told me... the covid-19 pandemic has enhanced their demand tremendously.... and he feels fortunate to provide the action on the field to those who can't come to the games.
"people are committed to sports and watching their child... their grandchild..
Their neighbor's kid or just watching a sport.
When they can't come out.
They are going to watch it one way or another.
We are benefitting from that and feel lucky that we can provide this for people in the wabash valley."
Coming up at 6... i'll have more from harper on how you can watch their games... and indiana sports network's plan for basketball season here in the valley.
