The Salvation Army serves Thanksgiving meals on Wednesday.
The salvation army chattanooga area command gave hundreds of warm meals to the homeless and seniors who were unable to celebrate thanksgiving with family due to the pandemic.
Representatives and volunteers distributed approximately five hundred wrapped meals in the parking lot of the salvation army, while adhering to social distancing guidelines.
Major mark smith says that the event was also about bringing people together.
"one of the things that people have missed this year is connection, connecting with people.
And really we want to give everyone an opportunity to connect.
To come in, to have a meal, to talk to somebody.
We're also giving out warm hats and scarves."
The event took place from eight until noon.
