Coronavirus cases are still on the rise in douglas county& but public health officials say they're feeling optimistic with the vaccine on the way.

Kezi 9 news reporter evita garza breaks down what they know about distribution so far.

Trt: 1:33 00:00 take lower public health officer bob dannenhoffer says the last few months have been rough for douglas county& as they continue to deal with the recent spike in covid-19 cases.

They surpassed one thousand cases last week& and he says more than sixty percent of those cases were reported in november alone.

Phoner:?that unfortunately is a sad benchmark to pass& and so this big uptick in cases in november is saddening and a big worry some?

However, he says he trying to stay postive& with the vaccine distribution just around the corner.?it a really good thing.

It looks like the vaccine is very very effective?

Dannenhoffer says they expect to get the first shipment of the vaccine within the next few weeks& but they still don know where or who it will be sent to in douglas county.

Even though it's been 10 months since the virus came to oregon... state officials still haven't figured out the logistics.

Dannenhoffer says they may consider distributing the vaccine drive through style& like theye done with covid-19 testing.
